The state government landed itself in a soup earlier today when the high court quashed down a government order. The petition was about reservations to Muslims in the state. The state government had issued a GO that Muslims in the state would have a 4% reservation much alike the sort of reservations given to SC/ST and BCs. However, a 7 judges bench which did an indepth analysis and study over this issue has quashed down the GO and also ordered the government to withdraw this 4% reservation status to Muslims. More details about the nuances of this case are awaited.
