Stung by the High Court verdict which quashed down the GO to allocate 4% reservation to Muslims, Congress seems to have gone into a damage control mode. Earlier today, MIM activists thronged the Assembly and Secretariat and accused the government for not supporting the cause of Muslims in the High Court. Later on, talking to the media, PCC Chief, D Srinivas said that after reading the full verdict of the High Court, the Congress government will appeal against the verdict in the Supreme Court. He condemned the Telugu Desam Party for making baseless statements on Congress’ commitment towards the welfare of Muslims and said that TDP has no right to talk about this issue. Whatever maybe the reason, the state High Court quashing down a government order is a direct question of the Government’s honesty and credibility over its policies.
