The CM Dr YSR Reddy personally intervened to write a letter to Union ministry of industry and commerce Mr Anand Sharma to cancel export licenses for two firms that were hoodwinking the Center and contributing to price rise of rice in the state. The firms - Bharath Exports of Ibrahimpatrnam and Venkatachalapathi Modern Rice Mill of Puducherry were exporting fine rice procured in A P thereby causing shortage of the staple diet and contributing to price rise for the common man. The firms all along lied to the center that they procured paddy from other states and milled it in A.P and exported it under non-Basmati category. The truth was they even procured the paddy from A.P. The CM said "people of the state, particularly the middle class, are suffering because of the rise in price."
