Director Dasari Narayana Rao
Producer : Dasari Narayana Rao
Music Director : Chakri
Starring : Dasari Narayana Rao, Vishnu Manchu, Catherine

Legendary director Dasari Narayana Rao, who is best known for his family dramas makes his comeback with ‘Erra Bus’. This flick also features Vishnu Manchu and Catherine Teresa in other important roles. Produced by Dasari himself, this film has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is.

Story:

Rajesh (Vishnu Manchu) is a software engineer whose primary aim is to go to the US. One fine day, he comes across Raji (Catherine Teresa) and falls head over heels for her. In the due course of time, even Raji accepts his love and decides to marry him. Meanwhile, Rajesh gets an offer to move to the US, and decides to spend a few days with his grandfather(Dasari Narayana Rao) before going there.

As planned, Dasari starts living with his grandson. As time passes by, his actions and habits start irritating people around him. One fine day, he also becomes the sole reason for Rajesh to loose both his US offer and his girlfriend. How will an angry Rajesh deal with his grandfather ? and what happens to his love story ? That forms the rest of the story.

Plus Points:

Dasari is apt in the role of an innocent grandfather and his chemistry with Vishnu is superb. His acting in the climax is awesome as he gives an emotional performance. Vishnu should be credited for leaving his star image and going with the script of the film. He looks handsome and stands out with a mature performance.

Catherine Teresa nicely compliments Vishnu, and is apt for her role. Emotional scenes in the film are impressive and will definitely connect with the family audiences. Climax of the film is well designed and performances of Dasari and Vishnu take it to the next level.

Minus Points:

The major minus point of this film is the basic story line. We have seen melodrama flicks like these earlier too. Run time of the film is yet another major drawback, as the film could have easily been trimmed by at least 30 minutes. There are many logical loopholes in the film like Vishnu’s visa scene.

Comedians are wasted and have not been used to their potential. Brahmanandam’s comedy track is unnecessary, and looks outdated. Even though the climax is high on emotions, it might not connect to the regular commercial audience.

Technical Aspects:

Dasari Narayana Rao has once again showed that he is a master at making family dramas. He has done a decent job with his direction and has extracted good performances from his cast. Dialogues of the film are emotional and have been written nicely.

Chakri’s music is good, but he should have concentrated more on his background score. Anji’s cinematography is decent as all the songs have been shot beautifully. The editor should have trimmed the film by at least 30 minutes as the screenplay during this time suffers big time.

Verdict:

On the whole, ‘Erra Bus’ is an out and out Dasari film all the way. He is ably supported by Vishnu’s memorable performance and the emotional climax only adds to the set up. But a predictable story line and excess length spoil the mood of the film which is only aimed at family audience.
