Sudhakar Kommakula got rave reviews for his performance in Shekhar Kammula’s Life is Beautiful. He is now back with yet another flick titled Undile Manchi Kaalam Mundu Munduna. This sports based film has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is.

Story:-

The story is based in the beautiful city of Vizaq. Two best friends Jazz Raju(Sudhakar) and Dhana(Karthik) ride an auto rickshaw for a living. Jazz Raju’s dream is to become a huge drummer, where as Dhana wants to represent India in the game of hockey.

Twist in the tale arises when their dreams get a severe beating because of some unwanted incidents in their life. Rest of the story is as to how both these best friends face all their troubles and achieve their goals.

Plus Points:-

Story of the film is quite novel and has a social message. Sudhakar impresses as the poor auto driver and brings in a lot of depth to the film. Karthik, who played Dhana’s role looks apt for his character, and carries the entire film on his shoulders. Even his love track has been showcased quite convincingly.

Last 20 minutes of the film are quite engaging and depict good human values. The way hockey game has been highlighted in the film is also very good. Naresh does a decent job in his tiny role. The characters designed bring in a lot of belief into the film.

Minus Points:-

This film is a perfect example of good script with bad execution. Even though the director had an interesting story line, he could not do justice to it. Senior actress like Radhika is utterly wasted in her role. First half of the film is quite slow and wanders completely. Pace of the film is also slow and the plot is too predictable. The way certain scenes in the first half have been designed are below par. The narration never gets a grip and slips offtrack.

Technical Aspects:-

Camerawork by Eshwar Kiran is superb and showcases the interiors of Vizaq quite wonderfully. The way this film has been given a realistic look is also nice. Dialogues are neat and so are all the characters. Screenplay of the film is a huge letdown and holds nothing interesting for the audience. Editing is just about ok as many scenes could have been easily chopped off in the first half. As said above, the director could not hold on to a good script and ends up making it just an below average outing.

Verdict:-

On the whole, Undile Manchi Kaalam Mundu Munduna is a perfect example of a film with good script and bad execution. Sudhakar and Karthik’s performance and the last ten minutes are the only basic plus points. But an dragged first half, and lack of proper narration spoil the essence of this film.
