Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD is arriving in theatres in another 9 days. The movie, directed by Nag Ashwin, is a blend of mythology and science fiction. In the recently released prelude, Nag Ashwin explained what Kalki 2898 AD is going to offer the audience and its unique selling point.

Nag Ashwin said, “Some of the characters from Mahabharata have an open ending. We still have an age to go, and that age is the final battle. That age is where the end essentially has to begin. All of the four yugas and nine avatars of Vishnu have to come to an end. That’s how we started the project, and that’s where the last story of our mythology sort of ends. We are now in Kaliyuga, and we really don’t have a story about this yuga because it is still happening.”

Nag Ashwin added, “I thought it would be an interesting idea if we start writing a sequel to Mahabharata. Kali continues from Dwapara yuga, and he has to come into Kaliyuga. If he comes, our heroes have to come in as well. The whole world will be part of this story because I always thought it was never one country. It’s always the world.”
