Ever since Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman announced his separation from his wife Saira Banu, social media has been abuzz with non-stop speculations about his personal life. Rahman’s bassist Mohini Dey’s Insta post about her separation from her husband further fuelled wild rumors about an alleged romantic relationship between ARR and Mohini. However, Rahman’s son Ameen and Mohini indirectly rubbished the ongoing rumors via Insta posts.
Now, it’s Rahman’s turn to shut the rumormongers. He took to X this evening and shared a notice in which he warned of legal action against hatemongers for spreading imaginary stories and malignant rumors about his personal life on social media that are causing hurt to Rahman and his family. The notice further asks the hatemongers, including several YouTubers and netizens, to remove their speculative posts about Rahman within 24 hours.
Rahman’s legal counsel further stated that offenders who do not comply with Rahman’s notice will be booked under criminal defamation cases under Section 356 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, with an imprisonment of two years, with or without fine as the court may determine under Section 356 (2).
A couple of days ago, announcing his separation from Saira Banu, Rahman tweeted, “We had hoped to reach the grand thirty, but all things, it seems, carry an unseen end. Even the throne of God might tremble at the weight of broken hearts. Yet, in this shattering, we seek meaning, though the pieces may not find their place again. To our friends, thank you for your kindness and for respecting our privacy as we walk through this fragile chapter.” Soon, both Rahman and Saira Banu were flooded with messages from their fans and well-wishers.
