Taapsee Pannu’s forthcoming film, Anando Brahma, has caught audience’s attention with its first look posters and the trailer. Directed by Mahi V Raghav, the film is scheduled for August 18th release. On this occasion, we caught up with him for an exclusive interview. Here is the transcript:
Q) Tell us about the film?
A) Genre wise, Anando Brahma is a horror-comedy film, but you will see a fresh and unique concept in it. The film will have very well defined characters and interesting screenplay.
Q) What’s the difference between the regular horror-comedy films and Anando Brahma?
A) I can confidently say that Anando Brahma is a first of its kind movie in Telugu. There will be proper logic for every character and well-balanced comedy scenes mixed with horror elements in a new perspective.
Q) Can we expect any title justification in the film?
A) To be frank, there is no title justification in the film. Somewhere, I felt that this title will be apt and bring a positive vibe to the film.
Q) Any specific reasons for choosing Taapsee for this film?
A) Actually, I had narrated this script to Taapsee before Pink’s release itself and she liked it very much. But as she was busy with her prior commitments, she kept it on hold. Later, she said okay to do the film. She is a brilliant actor and extremely committed to her work. You will see a new Taapsee in the film.
Q) How did the film materialize?
A) After preparing the bound script, I had approached many producers regularly. In the process, I met Vijay Chilla and he immediately liked the script and that’s how the journey started.
Q) Your previous film, Paathshala, didn’t do well commercially. Have you corrected your mistakes? What kind of care did you take for Anando Brahma?
A) Yes, I accept that Paathshala was a failure. I learned a lot from that failure and I was determined not to repeat the same mistakes in this film.
Q) Initially you produced two films and turned director. Any plans to produce movies in near future?
A) Actually, I’m the story writer for both Villagelo Vinayakudu and Kudirithe Cup Coffee. Due to some unexpected situations, I produced those films. But I have no regrets. I learned a lot in the process and as of now, I’m happy being a director and script writer.
Q) Coming back to Anando Brahma, What is the runtime of the film?
A) We kept it short and crisp. The film’s duration will be hardly 2 hours.
Q) Tell us about Vennela Kishore, Srinivas Reddy, Thagubothu Ramesh and Shakalaka Shankar’s roles in the film?
A) All four of them will have equal importance in the story and each character has a purpose in the film.
Q) Tell us about the producers?
A) My producers Viijay Chilla and Shashi Devireddy are very passionate about films. Especially, Vijay was with me throughout the process and he never compromised on the quality of the film.
Q) How are you planning the promotions?
A) Yeah, we are planning promotions in a unique manner to reach a larger section of audience. Right from the first look posters, motion poster and concept video, we wanted to project that this film is not a regular horror-comedy film.
Q) Your next projects?
A) As of now, I’m completely focused on this film. After the release, I shall work on further scripts.
