Allari Naresh is back with yet another film called Naandhi. The film will be out this Friday and on this occasion, we spoke to him in detail about the film. Here’s the transcript.
Are you happy with Bangaru Bullodu’s outcome?
No, I was disappointed big time as the film was in the making for close to two years. I had pinned a lot of hopes but sadly, things did not work.
What made you choose Naandhi?
Frankly, things were not working out for me and that is the time, even the fans were complaining about me doing routine comedy. That is the time I got Maharshi and now seeing that film, I was approached for Naandhi. I felt what better than a dark film to change gears in the industry.
But at the pre-release event, you said that comedy is your main priority?
Yes, what I meant to say was that I wanted to do concept-based comedy films. There need not be serious humor till the end but there will be a subtle comedy. So, I want to do such films and be different in my career.
So much is being said about the nude scene. Tell us about it?
We decided to have things showcased in a natural manner. Not many know but that is how inmates are searched by the cops. So, we went ahead with that scene just to bring an authentic feel to the image. The scenes will last only 15 seconds but the impact will be good.
What kind of preparation went into this film?
Performance-wise, things were okay but I had to go through a lot of physical stress for this film. It was very taxing doing this film that has serious emotions. Also, for my comedy films, I am a bit loud and here for Naandhi, I had toned my voice to suit my character.
There is a talk that a particular legal section is going to be highlighted?
Yes, we have discussed a delicate legal section in the film which I do not want to discuss as of now. Once the film is out, I am sure everyone will google it and even talk about it at length.
Working with Varalakshmi Sarathkumar?
For me, she is a lady Jagapathi Babu as she does all kinds of roles. The manner in which she is choosing the roles and doing supporting roles is the way to do it. She is superb in this film as well.
