Interview : Anasuya – I hate the word ‘item’ song

The hot and happening Anasuya is back with a special song in the upcoming film Winner. The song has received a fabulous response and on this occasion, we caught up with her for a brief interview. Let’s see what she has to say.

Why did you take such a long gap to sign films after Kshanam?

Even though I was getting so many offers nothing interesting was coming my way. I want to do roles which give me satisfaction as an artist. TV is my first love and priority as of now and I am having a great time doing it.

How did this offer come in?

Frankly, I was not interested in doing special songs. But when the makers of Winner approached me with the song, I decided to listen to the lyrics first. When I heard and found out that that entire song has been penned on my name with some good lyrics, I said yes right away.

Working with Sai Dharam Tej?

I had a super good time filming with Tej. He is a wonderful person and has danced supremely well in this number. Our chemistry has come out quite well and I hope the audience will love the song.

What is the highlight of this item song?

Firstly, I don’t like the word ‘item song’. We actors are not commodities and I feel that this culture of calling special songs as item numbers has come down from Bollywood. As far as I am concerned, special songs are those which have some special stars performing to elevate the film even more. For me, the highlight of the song is the catchy tune and superb visuals.

About your role in the film?

I have just a small scene followed by the song. The song was shot abroad and this number comes at a very crucial point in the film.

About Suma’s singing?

Initially, we shot this song with the dummy track. I found out only when Suma akka called me and revealed the news. I was super excited for her and here we are the song has caught on so well all over. Also, Suma has sung the song with a lot of energy which elevated the song completely.
