Gopichand

Macho star Gopichand has teamed up with Kannada director A Harsha for a serious cop action drama titled Bhimaa. The movie is scheduled for release on March 8, 2024. On this occasion, we conducted a brief interview with actor Gopichand. Here is the transcript of the interview.

How did you come to be involved in Bhimaa?

During the pandemic, our co-producer Sridhar garu and director Harsha pitched me a story over Facetime. I found it promising but requested a few changes. After 8 months, Harsha returned with the modifications, and I was impressed by the character development and the incorporation of semi-fictional elements, thus giving the green light for the film. Producer Radha Mohan garu also approved, and we moved forward with the project.

Could you describe your character in the film?

As seen in the trailer, Bhimaa revolves around a serious cop. However, the movie also features elements of love, comedy, and other commercial aspects to engage the audience. I was particularly impressed by the depth of character development by the director, and I believe audiences will remember the character of Bhimaa for a long time.

What are your thoughts on dealing with film flops?

Blaming the audience for the failure of a movie is not the right approach. Instead, we should reflect on what might have been missed that failed to resonate with viewers. It’s important to learn from mistakes and strive to minimize them in future projects. While I expected that some of my films might not perform well, it’s still disappointing when it happens.

Radha Mohan garu mentioned that Bhimaa is the most expensive film ever made in his career. Any comments on that?

I don’t know about the exact budget of the movie, but I always advise my producers to allocate resources according to the subject matter and within reasonable limits. It’s essential for producers to remain financially secure throughout the production process.

What was your experience like working with director A Harsha?

A Harsha is a talented and dedicated director. He had a clear vision for each character and the overall screenplay, which I appreciated.

Could you share your thoughts on the actresses in the film?

Both Malvika Nair and Priya Bhavani Shankar deliver impressive performances. Their characters play significant roles in the movie.

What can you tell us about your future projects?

The film with Srinu Vaitla Garu is already 30 percent completed. Additionally, I have a project under the SVCC banner and another one in the scripting stage with Radha Krishna Kumar, to be produced by UV Creations. As for OTT projects, I have not signed any yet, but I will keep you informed if that changes in the future.
