Gopichand’s Viswam, directed by Srinu Vaitla is releasing tomorrow and the expectations are high. On this occasion we met with the actor Gopichand for a brief interview and here is the transcript.
What are your thoughts on the story of Viswam?
I’ve wanted to work with Srinu Vaitla for a long time. Initially, we discussed a couple of ideas that didn’t resonate with me, but when I heard the storyline of Viswam, I found it well-structured and perfectly suited to Srinu Vaitla’s style. He spent seven months shaping the narrative.
How was your experience shooting with Srinu Vaitla?
Working with him was thrilling. Vaitla has a unique ability to create a comfortable environment for artists to perform. Some scenes were so hilarious that I struggled to keep from laughing during the shoot, even apologizing to my fellow artists.
Can you tell us about the train episode in the film?
While it might remind one of Venky’s train sequence, Viswam’s train sequence delivers exceptional entertainment with added tension, thanks to the performances of actors like Vennela Kishore and V.T. Ganesh.
How does Viswam blend action and comedy?
Srinu Vaitla has successfully intertwined action and comedy, allowing the audience to engage with the narrative without losing interest. His timing and humor are exceptional.
Were there any memorable moments or challenges during filming?
We faced challenges shooting in extreme conditions, like -15 degrees in Manali, but the picturesque locations in Italy added to the film’s charm.
Does the film carry a social message?
Yes, it subtly addresses a current issue in India, woven into the storyline without detracting from the entertainment.
How do the producers contribute to the film’s quality?
The producers maintained high standards without compromising on quality, enhancing the overall output of the film.
What should audiences expect from Viswam?
Viswam is a clean family entertainer that guarantees laughter for over two and half hours.
