Nani’s Hi Nanna will be hitting the silver screens this Thursday. The movie, helmed by debutant Shouryuv, has Mrunal Thakur as the female lead. Produced by Vyra Entertainment, the film’s music is composed by Hridayam fame Hesham Abdul Wahab. Ahead of the release, the music director interacted with the media, and here is the transcript.

The themes of Hi Nanna and Hridayam are familiar to the audience. How do you create something new for such films?

It’s just not me, but the entire team, including the director, editor, and everyone, are barging on the same topic. The love between a boy and a girl is always the same. The thing that matters is the way these stories are told. All love songs induce the same emotion. The singers and lyrics make the difference.

What do you do to avoid the repetitiveness?

When I finish working on a film, it will be out of my system. I don’t go back and listen to my previous songs. I don’t get emotionally attached to them. I will concentrate on my work thoroughly, and once the work gets done, I don’t think about it.

Did you see the final output? If yes, how do you feel?

Telugu audiences have celebrated all kinds of films. They encouraged the debut directors, too. I am excited about the audience’s reaction. Nani sir’s performance in Hi Nanna will have a lasting impact.

In between Kushi and Hi Nanna, you worked on Spark. How was it working on an action film?

I did that film for the film’s protagonist, Vikrant Reddy. He is a sweet person to work with. It didn’t do well. Also, it didn’t have a huge release. But that film helped me in many ways. It taught me patience. I was able to assemble my team after doing Spark. Those who worked with me for Spark were ready to compose for Hi Nanna.

Could you tell us about your upcoming projects?

I have committed to two projects currently. One of them is Rashmika’s The Girl Friend, directed by Rahul Ravindran. The other one is Sharwanand – Sriram’s film produced by People Media Factory.
