Interview : Mohanakrishna Indraganti – Will make a nice love story with Chay

Noted director, Indraganti Mohankrishna, who tasted success with his last film Gentleman is coming up with yet another comedy entertainer Ami Thumi this June 9th. On this occasion, we had a small interview session with him. Here is the transcript.

Q) Tell us about the film?

Post Ashta Chamma, many people asked me to plan for a sequel. Now, I’m confident that Ami Thumi will be a new version of Ashta Chamma.

Q) Any specific reasons for not making a sequel to Ashta Chamma?

Firstly I don’t want to cash in on the success of any film. Secondly, the girl who acted as Nani’s sister in the film is no more, so without her character, I cannot plan a sequel.

Q) What is main concept of Ami Thumi?

Adivi Sesh- Eesha, Srinivas Avasarala- Aditi are two young couples. What happens if a character called Shree Chilipi enters into their lives is the main story. The entire story happens in one single day.

Q) Any reasons for casting in Eesha again after Anthaku Mundu Aa Tarvatha and Bandipotu?

Eesha is a Telugu girl. She can speak in both Andhra and Telangana slangs. Mainly, she can give a good variation in Telangana slang which was required for the film. So I roped in her for this film.

Q) How did you complete the entire shooting in just 30 odd days?

After the complete script was prepared, we held a workshop for a week and that helped us a lot in completing the shoot in a short span.

Q) Why did you choose to do a small film after the success of Gentlemen?

In my view, the hard work we put in for both small and big films is the same. I actually prepared this script five years back itself. Initially, I planned to do Gentleman and later a film with Naga Chaitanya and as he was busy with his committed projects, I decided to make this film in the meantime.

Q) What kind of film are you planning with Chaitanya?

A) He has got a good image as a romantic hero. So I will definitely make a nice love story with him.

Q) Your forthcoming projects?

Next, I have decided to move away from rom-com entertainers and planning to make a gangster film with a strong social message.
