Director Ohmkar, who scored a blockbuster with 2015’s release Raju Gari Gadhi, is coming up with its sequel, Raju Gari Gadhi 2. Akkineni Nagarjuna and Samantha will be essaying prominent roles in this horror-comedy, which is scheduled for October 13th release. On this occasion, we caught up with Ohmkar for a detailed interview. Here is the transcript.
Q) How did this project start?
A) After the success of Raju Gari Gadhi, I prepared two scripts, one is Raju Gari Gadhi 2 and the other is a family subject. Firstly, I narrated RGG2 story to Venkatesh, but as he was busy with his prior commitments, it didn’t work out. Later, I took the soul of a Malayalam film titled Pretham and prepared a new script and that’s how this project started off.
Q) Why did you choose Nagarjuna and Samantha for prominent roles in the film?
A) After preparing the complete script, I narrated it to one of our producers, Niranjan Reddy. Impressed, Niranjan asked me to narrate it to Nagarjuna and Samantha. After listening to the script, they both liked it and immediately agreed to do this project.
Q) What kind of changes you made to the original version, Pretham?
A) As of now, I should not reveal those details (laughs), but after watching RRG2, we will clearly notice the difference. I only took the soul point and prepared the entire script.
Q) Why did you approach a Mumbai company for the VFX work?
A) I liked their previous work for Suriya’s 24. Especially, the water effect which comes in the first song impressed me a lot. Since we also had similar episodes in the film, I chose them as my CG team. They did a brilliant work and I’m happy with the output.
Q) Tell us about Nagarjuna character’s duration in the film?
A) The film is completely based on him. His character will enter after 30 minutes and it’s present throughout the film. He is playing a mentalist and we designed his character with utmost care to reach a larger section of the audience.
Q) What was his feeling after watching the first copy?
A) He was very happy with the output. He also liked the visual effects and was confident on the product.
Q) Rumours floating around that you both had professional differences while shooting for the film, is it true?
A) No, it’s absolutely false. Nag sir gave me freedom and valued my decisions. We both are happy with the final output.
Q) Will this film also have a social message like your previous films?
A) Yeah, this film also has a very good under current social message, but on a lighter note. After watching the film, you will get to know about it.
