With back-to-back successes in her kitty, ravishing beauty Rakul Preet is one of the most sought after heroines in Tollywood at present. Rakul’s latest film, Rarandoi Veduka Chudham, co-starring Naga Chaitanya, is slated to hit the screens on May 26. On this occasion, we caught up with her for a brief chitchat. Here are the excerpts:
Q) Tell us about your role in the movie?
A) I play a peculiar girl named Bharamaramba. She is stubborn and headstrong. My character has shades of quirkiness and naughtiness.
Q) How different is Bharamaramba from all the characters that you have played so far?
A) Over these years, I have mostly played modern girl roles, but for the first time, I’ll be seen as a traditional village belle who mostly wears half sarees.
Q) RVC is a family drama. Did you miss your family during the shoot?
A) Not at all. In fact, I became quite close to all the cast and crew members. Hanging out with them on the sets was like spending time with my own family.
Q) How was it working with Naga Chaitanya for the first time?
A) Chaitanya and I have been good friends since a long time, so working with him was quite easy. Chay is very innocent. Every man should learn a lot from him. He’s such a down to earth person even though he’s born into the illustrious Akkineni family.
Q) Tell us about your director Kalyan Krishna?
A) Kalyan Krishna is a very good director. He’s an ever positive person. He knows what he exactly wants. I must thank him for offering me such a beautiful character and even waiting for 4 months for my dates. I had pleaded him to cast me for Bharamarambha’s role (laughs) and even told him that I’ll be the leading lady in his next movie.
Q) How do you choose the right script amidst so many offers?
A) I simply choose the script and character which suit me well.
Q) How is it working with top stars and young heroes?
A) I don’t differentiate between the star status. I only concentrate on doing justice to the script and the movie that I work on.
Q) You’re being called a ‘Lucky Mascot’, how does it feel?
A) I believe that no one is lucky or unlucky here. I don’t believe that a movie will become a hit with my presence alone. A film’s success depends on the hardwork of each and every person in the team.
Q) Any plans to go back to Bollywood?
A) I’m in a ‘happy space’ here. It is Teluguites who have given me this identity. I don’t see any need to go back to Bollywood just for the sake of it. But I’ll surely consider if a good script comes my way.
Q) Tell us about DSP’s music?
A) DSP has given a chartbuster audio album. All the songs are instantly and repeatedly hummable. I really like the title song and Thakita Thakajam.
Q) Lastly, tell us about the film’s producer Nagarjuna?
A) Nagarjuna sir is a kind-hearted gentleman. He used to visit the sets every 2, 3 days and oversee each and every aspect of the film’s production. He saw the final film recently and called me and appreciated my performance. I will never forget his compliment.
