Garuda Vega is one film which has created a superb buzz all over. The film is directed by the talented Praveen Sattaru and we caught up with him for a detailed interview. Here is the transcript.
How was Garuda Vega born?
I had this script with me since 2006 and this was my first written story. I was heavily inspired by Hollywood films and when I wanted to make a Die-Hard kind of a film in Telugu, the first person I remembered was Rajsekhar. I narrated the script to him and we at a point wanted to name the film Magadu 2 also. But after a lot of discussions, we changed the title and here we are.
What kind of changes did you make to the script?
Initially, when I wrote the script in 2006, my hero was a CI. Now that times have changed, I brought in the National Intelligence Agency and several other new factors into the setup.
This is the first time you are doing action. How was the whole experience?
Oh! I just loved the entire experience. The way I conceived the action and executed it, everything was quite thrilling and I loved every part of it. I also got to work with some top technicians and created a superb action set up which is looking great in the film.
Don’t you think it is a huge risk putting so much budget on Rajasekhar?
I seriously don’t understand this question. Where ever I go everyone is asking me the same. A film like Arjun Reddy was made on a budget of 4 crores with a new director and relatively new face. The film collected 30 crores and I tell you the same. If you execute the movie well, the collections will automatically come.
So, that means you are never concerned about the budget?
No! I am not the one who is bothered about the budget. The stupidest question any producer asks the director when he comes up with the script is what is the budget. I fail to understand the logic as it is the duty of the line producer to calculate everything and manage such things as a director is only the creative person.
Shooting experience in Georgia?
It was a very enriching experience working in Georgia. We shot on top of a huge dam which is the sixth tallest in the word. We had that dam with us for over four days and we shot some awesome shots which will be a huge highlight in the film.
Reason for Sunny Leone’s song?
It was just added for the commercial purpose to bring in more crowds to the theaters. It has come out quite nicely and will be a treat for the masses.
