Interview : Shouryuv – Hi Nanna is a clean entertainer without double-meaning dialogues & violence

Nani’s Hi Nanna will be hitting the silver screens on December 7. The movie, helmed by debutant Shouryuv, has Mrunal Thakur as the female lead. The movie is produced by Vyra Entertainments. Ahead of the release, the director interacted with the media, and here is the transcript.

Could you tell us about your background? How did Hi Nanna’s journey start?

I am from Vizag, and my father deals in real estate. My mother is a housewife. Also, I have a brother and sister. I don’t have any film background. My parents wanted me to get into medicine, but I am interested in films. I worked as an assistant director for Jaguar and Aditya Varma. I penned Hi Nanna’s story four years back. When I narrated the script to Vyra Entertainments, they liked it. They introduced me to Nani Garu, and he liked the script, too.

There must be something special about the story as Nani gave his nod. What do you think it is?

Emotion is my main strength. The movie focuses on father-daughter bonding and the hero’s relationship with Mrunal Thakur. As the emotions are very strong, Nani Garu okayed the script.

Currently, more action and violent films are ruling the roost. How do you think Hi Nanna will fare in these situations?

That is the reason we made Hi Nanna. Hi Nanna doesn’t have double-meaning dialogues and violence. Hi Nanna is a clean, emotional family movie. It is a nuclear family story. Films like Hi Nanna are very much required now.

Whose decision was it to have Hesham Abdul Wahab as the music director?

It was Nani Garu who suggested we have Hesham as music director. He got excited after listening to the story. He gave beautiful songs and a wonderful background score. He composed the tunes according to the characters. He will go to the next level with Hi Nanna.

Generally, action movies are released at the PAN Indian level. What is the reason behind Hi Nanna’s release in multiple languages?

The story of Hi Nanna is universal. We thought the story should reach a wider audience. Hi Nanna will surely entertain the audience across languages.

Please tell us about Shruti Haasan’s role. Will there be surprise roles?

Shruti Haasan Garu’s character will have prominence in the story. I can’t say more than this at the moment. Yes, there will be a couple of surprise roles.
