Interview : Vimal Krishna – DJ Tillu is not an adult comedy

DJ Tillu will release this Saturday and on this occasion, we caught up with the director Vimal Krishna for a char. Here is the transcript.

How did this film come into existence?

I knew Siddhu from 2012 and was in touch with him. Our sensibilities are the same and we scripted this film together. As we loved comedy more, we chose this subject and approached Sithara Entertainments. They liked the script and gave a green signal.

Your background?

I am from Vizag and my father always wanted to be in films. But he could not achieve his dream. On the other hand, I always wanted to be a director and worked as an AD for the film Kshanam under the direction of Ravikanth Perepu.

What is DJ Tillu all about?

DJ Tillu is a film on how we judge women without knowing anything about them. Siddhu’s role has his own perspective and Neha Shetty follows her own struggle. Each has their own ideology and how they cross paths and what happens to them is the story.

What are Trivikram’s inputs to this film?

Trivikram sir kept on giving inputs and never forced his ideas on us. Ideas that worked for the story were incorporated. It was a learning experience working with him.

About Siddhu as DJ Tillu?

Tillu is a DJ because the character suits Siddhu’s body language somehow. Siddhu has grown up in Malkajgiri in Hyderabad and that’s why he could own the character completely. His dialogues will be a laugh riot in the film and the masses will love him.

About the production of Sithara Entertainments?

I am fortunate to have got to do a film under Sithara Entertainments. S Naga Vamsi garu supported me in every way. China Babu garu, too, gave me full freedom.
