After AR Rahman, his bassist announces separation from husband

The music world was recently shaken by two surprising announcements. While fans were saddened by renowned music director AR Rahman and his wife Saira Banu parting ways after 29 years, bassist Mohini Dey, a close collaborator of AR Rahman, revealed her separation from her husband, Mark.

Taking to Instagram, Mohini shared that the decision was mutual, and despite going their separate ways, they remain good friends and will continue working on projects like MaMoGi. She requested privacy and emphasised positivity in this transition.

Starting her career at just 11 under the mentorship of jazz legend Louis Banks, Mohini Dey has risen to global acclaim. Renowned for her collaborations with AR Rahman, Zakir Hussain, and Steve Vai, she has been a part of iconic projects like Coke Studio India and Wind of Change.
