During Eid 2024, Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn came up with the sports drama Maidaan. The film is based on the life of Indian football coach Syed Abdul Rahim, who revolutionized the sport in India. Directed by Amit Sharma and produced by Boney Kapoor, the film received exceptional reviews from critics. However, Maidaan ended up being one of the biggest disasters in Hindi cinema.
Trade experts opined that post-Covid, moviegoers lost interest in the sports genre and cited this as the main reason for Maidaan becoming a dud. This Ajay Devgn starrer was initially planned as a PAN-Indian film but was released only in Hindi. The original version premiered on Prime Video on May 22, but till yesterday, there was no trace of the dubbed versions. Maidaan is now available to stream in Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam languages on Prime Video, along with the Hindi version.
This is a solid update for those waiting to see the film in South Indian languages. Maidaan also stars Priyamani, Gajraj Rao, and Rudranil Ghosh in crucial roles. Boney Kapoor, in collaboration with ZEE Studios, produced this biographical flick. Oscar-winning AR Rahman composed the tunes.
