Akhil’s Agent fails miserably on OTT too

After nearly two years, Akhil Akkineni’s spy action disaster Agent arrived on Sony LIV, only to meet the same fate as its theatrical release – complete rejection. Those who skipped the film in cinemas and waited eagerly for its OTT debut were left utterly disappointed.

Directed by Surrender Reddy, the film turned out to be a mess, riddled with over-the-top action, poor storytelling, and a lackluster screenplay. Audiences slammed the direction, questioning how a filmmaker of Surender Reddy’s caliber could deliver such a trainwreck. Akhil’s performance, meant to establish him as an action hero, ended up being widely criticised, with many calling it forced and ineffective.

Even the presence of Malayalam superstar Mammootty couldn’t lend the film any credibility. The writing, execution, and character development fell flat, making it a tedious watch. Sakshi Vaidya, the female lead, barely had anything to do in this forgettable venture produced by Anil Sunkara and Sunkara Ramabrahmam. Hip Hop Tamizha’s music did little to lift the film’s sinking appeal.

With Agent proving to be a colossal failure in both theaters and on OTT, Akhil desperately needs a solid comeback. Fans now pin their hopes on Lenin (working title) to redeem his career.
