Kanguva, which was expected to be the Kollywood’s first Rs. 1000 crore grosser, mostly received poor reviews from critics. The word of mouth is also not encouraging for this flick spearheaded by Suriya. Siruthai Siva is facing severe backlash for his execution and over-the-top presentation.
Kanguva producer K.E. Gnanavel Raja expressed his hope that the tables will turn for Kanguva. In an interesting development, Sivakarthikeyan’s Amaran has surpassed Suriya’s Kanguva in Book My Show ticket sales. In the last 24 hours, Kanguva sold 114.78K tickets, while the biopic sold a little over 115K tickets.
Although Amaran’s lead is marginal, one must note the fact that it’s been more than two weeks since the Sivakarthikeyan starrer was released, whereas it is day two for Kanguva. Clearly, mouth talk for the Suriya starrer has spread thick and fast, and the effect can be seen in the ticket sales. Going forward Amaran might start taking bigger leads and there is no stopping for Sivakarthikeyan’s film till Pushpa 2 arrives on December 5.
