Amaran, starring Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi, was one of the biggest hits of Kollywood in 2024. This biographical film based on Major Mukund Varadharajan collected approximately Rs. 350 crores at the worldwide box office. Rajkumar Periasamy directed this flick, and he shot to the limelight with Amaran’s phenomenal success. The filmmaker’s next project is with Dhanush.
The movie, tentatively titled D55, was launched formally with a pooja ceremony last month. In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Rajkumar Periasamy revealed D55’s plot. He stated, “My previous film was about a hero who is a recipient of the Gallantry Award. My next would be about many unsung heroes who blend in within society.
“Rajkumar Periasamy added, “People are not aware of those unsung heroes. The protagonist will represent such unrecognized achievers. Anbuchezhiyan sir, an investor turned producer, is bankrolling D55 under the banner of Gopuram Films. This is a new setup. I am very excited about this film. Also, I am looking forward to many collaborations in 2025.”
