A few days ago, in an interview, the Munna Bhai actor Arshad Warsi made controversial comments about the epic blockbuster Kalki 2898 AD and its star Prabhas, referring to him as a ‘joker.’ These remarks did not sit well with the Telugu film fraternity. Celebrities like Nani, Sudheer Babu, and Sharwanand, along with many fans, have reacted strongly to Arshad’s unnecessary and derogatory comments, though the actor has yet to respond.
Today, Vishnu Manchu, President of the Movie Artists Association (MAA), addressed the issue in an official letter to Cine And TV Artistes’ Association (CINETAA) President Ms. Poonam Dhillon.
In his letter, Vishnu stated, “Arshad Warsi, a respected actor, recently shared his opinion on the film Kalki 2898 AD. However, his belittling comment about actor Prabhas has caused hurt within the Telugu film community. In today’s social media age, where words can quickly escalate, it’s crucial for public figures to be mindful of their statements. Warsi’s remark has unfortunately sparked negativity among cinema lovers.”
Vishnu further added, “I am confident that CINETAA, which has always stood for unity and respect within the film community, shares our sentiment that such remarks should be avoided in the future. We request that Mr. Arshad Warsi be advised to refrain from making such remarks about fellow actors in the future. It is essential that we maintain the dignity and respect that each of our colleagues deserves, regardless of their regional affiliation.”
It’s high time for Arshad Warsi to address the issue regarding his comments before he faces further backlash from CINETAA.
