Superstar Mahesh Babu is now one of the top stars in Tollywood. But the film that gave him this immense stardom is undoubtedly Okkadu. Directed by Gunaskehar, this was one of the biggest blockbusters in Telugu cinema back then. It redefined the making of commercial cinema and had an exceptional run in theatres.
None can forget the impact created by the film’s iconic Konda Reddy Fort scene. Be it songs, fights, performances, direction, music, or comedy, everything about the film is top-notch. It’s been two decades since the release of Okkadu, and the fans are celebrating the same on social media.
Recently the film was re-released twice, and it raked in very good revenues reiterating the craze of Superstar. The film’s producer M.S. Raju took to his Twitter and wrote that the film is still fresh in everyone’s mind. He added that it broke all records in Nizam by collecting nine crores share.
The movie was remade in several languages as well. It bagged eight Nandhi awards and four Filmfare awards. Bhoomika played the leading lady, while Prakash Raj, Mukesh Rishi, Telangana Shakuntala, and Paruchuri Venkateswara Rao played key roles. Mani Sharma gave the soundtracks.
