Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi’s highly anticipated pan-India romantic drama, Thandel, is hitting theaters worldwide on February 7 ahead of Valentine’s Day. Thanks to the massive success of the film’s audio album and the recently released trailer, the expectations for this Chandoo Mondeti directorial are rising with each passing day.
Thandel’s story is inspired by real-life incidents that took place in 2017 and 2018. In the movie, Chay plays a fisherman named Raju from a Srikakulam village. The film explores themes like love, separation, and patriotism after Chay and other fishermen get captured by Pakistani coast guards and tortured in a Pak prison.
Thandel producer Bunny Vas recently met MP Bansuri Swaraj, daughter of former Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj, and thanked her for letting them use Sushma Swaraj’s name and her heroics in ensuring the release of Indian fishermen from Pak’s capture during her reign. Sushma Swaraj was one of the most efficient and adored External Affairs ministers India has ever witnessed. MP Bansuri Swaraj has given the NOC to Bunny Vas, which in turn ensured a smooth completion of the censor formalities.
Taking to X, Bunny Vas wrote, “Heartfelt gratitude to @BansuriSwaraj garu for giving us the opportunity to showcase the remarkable work of your mother, the former Central Minister Mrs. @SushmaSwaraj garu, in bringing back the fishermen who were stuck in Pakistani jails in 2017 and 2018 in our Thandel. Your support in granting permission to share the names in our real hard-hitting story of Raju and Satya means a lot to us.”
