Talented Tollywood director Nag Ashwin, who raised the bar for Indian sci-fi with Prabhas-starrer Kalki 2898 AD, is currently immersed in scripting its much-anticipated sequel. Despite being busy with the massive project, the filmmaker recently took time to interact with students and share his thoughts on cinema.
During the session, Nag Ashwin opened up about a personal moment of creative disappointment. He revealed that Christopher Nolan’s Inception (2010) left such a deep impression on him that it led to a week-long depression.
“I had an idea similar to Inception. While Nolan’s film is about dreams, mine was about thoughts. I came up with it back in 2008. But once I saw the trailer for Inception, I dropped the idea. It affected me so deeply that I went into depression for a week,” he shared.
This unexpected revelation surprised many, sparking conversations about what his vision might have looked like had it been made into a film.
As of now, apart from the sequel to Kalki 2898 AD, Nag Ashwin hasn’t announced any new projects. Rumors are swirling that he might collaborate with Alia Bhatt on a future film, but there has been no official confirmation yet. Stay tuned for more updates.
