After becoming the first Malayalam film to collect Rs. 100 crore share worldwide, Empuraan has once again scripted history. This Mohanlal starrer is now the highest-grossing Malayalam film ever at the worldwide box office. Previously, this record was held by the survival thriller Manjummel Boys, and now Empuraan has crossed it comfortably.
The political thriller amassed over Rs. 250 crores gross globally just within 10 days of its release. Although controversial elements undermined Empuraan’s performance in other languages, the biggie is still going great guns at the Kerala box office. We need to see how Empuraan fares once Ajith’s Good Bad Ugly and Mammootty’s Bazooka hit the screens on April 10.
Besides playing a pivotal role, Prithviraj Sukumaran also directed L2: Empuraan. The big-ticket entertainer also features Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Indrajith Sukumaran, and others in key roles. Antony Perumbavoor, Lyca Subaskaran, and Gokulam Gopalan jointly bankrolled this sequel.
