Unni Mukundhan’s violent film Marco has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. Recently, CBFC banned Marco from being telecasted on television due to its extreme violence. The regional officer of CBFC, Nadeem Thufail, has written to CBFC for the Center’s intervention to prevent Marco’s streaming on OTT.

Many believe Marco contains a lot of violence, which isn’t suitable for family viewing. When asked about this, Unni Mukundhan replied that Marco didn’t even show 10% of the violence present in society. In a recent interview, Telugu actor Kiran Abbavaram revealed he walked out of Marco’s screening midway.

The KA actor said, “I went to Marco with my wife. We walked out during the second half as we could not tolerate that gruesome violence. She (Rahasya Gorak) was carrying. We couldn’t digest the bloodshed. She felt very uncomfortable. Much before pre-climax, we left the theatre.”

The makers marketed Marco as the most violent Malayalam film, which is a key reason the film gained solid pre-release buzz. At the box office, Marco emerged as a blockbuster with over Rs. 100 crores gross. However, upon its OTT release, the film received mixed responses for its brutality. Directed by Haneef Adeni, Marco features Yukti Tareja as the female lead.
