Indian 2: Shankar justifies how 106-year-old Senapathy can perform stunts effortlessly

The theatrical trailer of Shankar and Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2 is out now, but the initial response from the audience is not promising. Many are opining that the film’s concept looks old-fashioned. However, the major complaint is about Kamal Haasan’s character and makeup. According to the first part, Senapathy was born in 1918, and the Indian 2 trailer showcased Kamal performing high-octane stunts and taking on goons. A few netizens are wondering how 106-year-old Senapathy can perform such risky stunts.

In the trailer launch event held in Mumbai, a journalist asked Shankar and Kamal Haasan as to how an old man can perform dangerous feats. Kamal Haasan said, “That age has to be determined by the director. I would like to act even when I am 120.” Shankar said, “There is a martial arts master in China. His name is Lu zijian. At the age of 120, he is performing martial arts. He is flying, kicking, and doing all the stuff.”

Shankar added, “This Senapathy character is also a master. He is well-versed in the ancient martial art called Varma Kalai. Senapathy has discipline regarding his food habits. He practices yoga and meditation and eats only once a day. So, if you are a master in your craft and have discipline, age doesn’t matter. You can perform any kind of stunt.”

Shankar’s explanation sounds logical, but it remains to be seen how the audience will accept the logic behind the Senapathy character. The film’s success is crucial for the Tamil industry, which isn’t having a great time this year. Indian 2 will be out in cinemas on 12th July 2024.
