We have reached the fag end of 2023. This year has been fantastic for Bollywood, with numerous mega-blockbusters. After a gap of three years, the Hindi film industry regained the top position. Shah Rukh Khan’s action drama Jawan emerged as the top-grosser of Indian cinema for the year 2023. The masala entertainer opened to positive reviews all over and created a tsunami at ticket windows. Mainly, the mass audience went gaga over the film.
Directed by Atlee, the film raked in 1154 crores gross at the worldwide box office, out of which nearly 400 crores came from overseas. The Hindi version collected about 590 crores nett at the domestic which is the highest for any Bollywood film. Jawan’s Telugu and Tamil versions also raked in solid collections depicting the craze of SRK in south India.
Jawan is also the biggest opener in Bollywood of all time. This is the second film of King Khan Shah Rukh to enter the prestigious 1000 crores gross club after Pathaan. The movie also stars Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara, Deepika Padukone, Priyamani, Sanya Malhotra, Ridhi Dogra, Lehar Khan, Sunil Grover, and Girija Oak in crucial roles. Produced by Gauri Khan under the banner of Red Chillies Entertainment, the film’s music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
