We are just a week away from witnessing the mega spectacle Kalki 2898 AD on the big screens. This Prabhas starrer is made on a massive budget of 600 crores. This Nag Ashwin’s directorial is an amalgamation of mythology and science fiction. In the second episode of the prelude, Nag Ashwin revealed that there are different worlds in the film.

He said, “When this Kali Yuga ends and the Ganga dries up, how would the last city look like? We thought, maybe what if it was Kashi? Many ancient texts mention that Kashi is where civilization began. Now, creating that world was very interesting. Kashi is very old, and imagining those ghat steps and Indian architecture in a futuristic way, maybe three thousand years later, we designed and ideated the city.”

Nag Ashwin continued, “How will monetary transactions happen at that time? Because the usage of physical currency has reduced now. Also, how would the vehicles look like? Building Kashi was a very long process. There is a massive pyramid-like structure over Kashi, and you would have seen it in the trailer. We call it the Complex. Whatever is not available on earth, like nature, food, and animals, will be found there. It’s like a Noah’s Ark or Trishanku Heaven. It is a paradise on top. The river Ganga looks dried up in Kashi, whereas there is a sea on the Complex.”

Nag Ashwin continued, “There is also a third world in the film called Shambala. We haven’t revealed much about it in the assets we launched till now. Shambala is very integral to the story. When people talk about Kalki, there will be a discussion of Shambala. This third world is unrelated to Complex and Kashi. The people in Shambala will confront the actions of the Complex. There is no God in this world. In a way, God is banned from this world. Our story unfolds among these words.”

The director added, “We designed each world with a unique approach. The resources, clothes, money transfer process, weapons, vehicles, houses, and technology used in these worlds are distinct. People believe the coming avatar will be born in Shambala. The bounty system is important in the film.”
