Pan-India stars Prabhas and Deepika Padukone’s pan-India sci-fi thriller, Kalki 2898 AD, was released in cinemas worldwide yesterday amid unprecedented hype and expectations. The Nag Ashwin directorial received positive responses from fans and critics alike, and the emphatic word of mouth has helped the film erase several box office records across the globe.
In the twin Telugu states, Kalki 2898 AD registered the third all-time highest opening, after Rajamouli’s RRR and Prabhas-Prashanth Neel’s Salaar. As per the latest official updates, Kalki grossed a staggering Rs 72 crore in the Andhra, Nizam, and Ceded regions. The film collected a cool Rs 19.70 crore share at single screens and multiplexes across Nizam. While another Rs 5.25 crore share was collected in the Ceded region, about Rs 21 crore share was collected in the Andhra region. The film pocketed Rs 45 crore share in the twin Telugu states on its opening day.
Kalki 2898 AD also features Indian cinema legends Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan, Disha Patani, Anna Ben, Pasupathy, and others in key roles. Young stars Dulquer Salmaan and Vijay Deverakonda were also seen in crucial cameos. Veteran producer Ashwini Dutt has bankrolled this prestigious project under his Vyjayanthi Movies banner.
