Kalki storm braves heavy rains in North; Check out Hindi version’s 2-day collection

Kalki 2898 AD, director Nag Ashwin’s recently released sci-fi drama featuring Prabhas and Deepika Padukone in lead roles, has taken the global box office by storm. The film has already entered the coveted Rs 300 crore club on its third day and is poised to collect a humongous gross of over Rs 500 crore in its extended opening weekend.

Not only the Telugu version, Kalki’s Hindi version, too, is rock solid at the box office across the country. After collecting Rs 22.50 crore nett on day one, the film’s Hindi version surpassed everyone’s expectations and went on to collect more than its day 1 collection on day 2.

On Friday, which was a working day, Kalki’s Hindi version minted a cool Rs 23.25 crore nett, taking its two-day total to Rs 45.75 crore. What’s remarkable is that Kalki posted such huge numbers despite the heavy rains in key regions such as Mumbai, New Delhi, and the NCR.

Bollywood trade analysts predict that Kalki 2898 AD will smoothly enter the Rs 100 crore nett club in its opening weekend. The presence of Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan and star heroine Deepika Padukone, coupled with Prabhas’ ever-growing craze, has heavily helped the film attract audiences in huge numbers to theaters. Also starring Kamal Haasan, Disha Patani, Anna Ben, Pasupathy, and several other popular stars in key roles, Kalki 2898 AD is bankrolled by veteran producer Ashwini Dutt. Santhosh Narayanan is the film’s music composer.
