Released in 2005, popular Tamil director AR Murugadoss’ action drama, Ghajini, starring Kollywood stars Suriya, Asin, and Nayanthara, ended up being a huge blockbuster at the box office. Inspired by acclaimed Hollywood filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s Memento, Ghajini was later remade in Hindi in 2008 with Aamir Khan and Asin playing the main leads and went on to become Bollywood’s first Rs 100 crore grosser.
For the past few days, speculations about a possible sequel to Ghajini have been doing the rounds ever since Suriya revealed that the film’s producer, Allu Aravind, has plans to extend the film into a franchise. As per the latest updates, the script work for Ghajini 2 is currently underway. Furthermore, the film will be simultaneously made in Tamil and Hindi, with Suriya and Aamir Khan starring in the respective versions. Apparently, both Suriya and Aamir do not want the remake hero tag and informed the producers of the same.
Ghajini 2 will be jointly bankrolled by Allu Aravind and Madhu Manthena. Further updates on this much-awaited sequel and its cast and crew members will be out in early next year.
