Vijay Sethupathi’s 50th film, Maharaja, was released last Friday in Tamil and Telugu. The film received unanimous positive reviews from both critics and the audience, leading to fantastic first weekend box office collections.
A few minutes ago, the makers officially released the first weekend collections. The film crossed Rs. 32.6 crores gross at the worldwide box office, marking the highest ever opening weekend collection for a Tamil film in 2024. The Telugu version also showed exponential growth, collecting nearly Rs. 6 crores gross in the Telugu states. The film will break even in Telugu states by the end of the day.
Maharaja is directed by Nithilan Swaminathan, known for his work in Kurangu Bommai, and the movie boasts a talented ensemble cast, including Anurag Kashyap, Mamta Mohandas, and Natty. Ajaneesh Loknath composed the music for the film. Maharaja is a collaboration between Passion Studios, The Route, and Think Studios.
