Mollywood’s most violent film takes a phenomenal opening at the box office

Malayalam film Marco, headlined by Unni Mukundhan, was promoted as the most violent Mollywood film ever. Written and directed by Haneef Adeni, the film had a solid buzz right from the beginning. The posters, teaser, and even a lyrical song hinted at a bloodbath, and based on the initial reports, the makers delivered what they promised.

At the Kerala box office, Marco took a phenomenal opening, minting around Rs. 4.5 crores gross. Malayalam films are generally not frontloaded, and hence, Marco’s opening day numbers can be termed exceptional. Only star hero films will collect big numbers on day one in Kerala, and with Marco, actor Unni Mukundhan did the unthinkable.

Even in the international markets and the rest of India, Marco did pretty well and posted solid numbers. As per the estimates, Marco collected nearly Rs. 10 crores gross worldwide. After Kerala, the Gulf is the best contributor to the film. The trade experts opine that the movie would have registered a much bigger opening in Kerala had there been more shows.

Marco is having a blockbuster day two in all stations and the weekend numbers are sure to shock one and all. Marco also stars Jagadish, Siddique, Anson Paul, Yukti Thareja, Sreejith Ravi, Kabir Duhan Singh, and others in crucial roles. Shareef Muhammed produced the film, while Ravi Basrur composed the tunes.
