At the teaser launch event of Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Daaku Maharaj, Naga Vamsi was asked an interesting question, to which the producer’s reply was even more captivating. A journalist said, “Generally, filmmakers consider competition and season when deciding a release date. But when it comes to your films, it seems you should also have to factor in the sympathy card played by your competitors.”
The journalist added that the same thing happened in January and now during Diwali. Naga Vamsi replied, “So do you mean to say the sympathy factor worked better for those two films than their content?” The journalist intervened and stated that the good performance of Guntur Kaaram and Lucky Baskhar was overshadowed due to the sympathy factor.
Naga Vamsi added, “It’s a very good question. You have a bright future. I don’t know what to say. Only films releasing against mine are giving me such big shocks by playing the sympathy card. Filmmakers are talking about their hardships only when competing against my films. I don’t get it. They are doing this just when my films are about to release (laughs). Maybe we should also try to play the sympathy card for Daaku Maharaj.”
