Netflix India plans to strike big; Acquires digital rights of 16 new Telugu films

It’s an open fact that Netflix India is lagging behind compared to other OTT platforms. The pricing factor is one reason, and the other important reason is the lack of proper Indian content. However, for the past year, the platform has been acquiring good Indian content.

Now the OTT platform has announced that it has bought the post-theatrical streaming rights of 16 new Telugu films. Mahesh Babu’s SSMB28 is one among them which has sky-high expectations, and surely, this can be a great advantage for Netflix. The other biggie on the list is Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Bholaa Shankar. Megastar enjoys a huge craze, and this film also is a nice buy.

The recent blockbuster Dhamaka rights are also with the digital platform. The other films on the list include Nani’s PAN Indian film Dasara, Nikhil’s18 Pages, Kalyan Ram’s Amigos, Sai Dharam Tej’s Virupaksha, Varun Tej’s 12th film (Not titled yet), Siddu’s Tillu Square, Vaishnnav Tej’s 4th film (Not titled yet), Anuskha’s film with UV creations (Not titled yet) and Kiran Abbavaram’s Meter.

The last also do include films like Sithara Entertainments’s Butta Bomma, Sundeep Kishan’s Buddy, Karthikeya’s 8th film, and Naga Shaurya’s new untitled film. So it seems that the OTT platform has come up with a good strategy and we will need to see how rewarding it will be.
