Veerappan, a notorious smuggler, shook the entire South India with his gruesome acts. As per the reports, he almost killed 184 people and poached about 200 elephants. Back in 2016, Ram Gopal Varma made a film that highlighted Operation Cocoon, which was conceived to eliminate Veerappan.
The movie received solid critical acclaim, and it performed well at the box office too. Popular OTT platform Netflix India has created a docuseries on this dreadful bandit. The digital platform has till now released a few documentaries highlighting real-life crimes, including Indian Predator: Murder in a Courtroom, House of Burari Deaths, and The Butcher of Delhi.
The documentary on Veerappan is titled The Hunt For Veerappan. It will follow the rise and fall of Veerappan, whose bloody reign sparked a 20-year-long manhunt in South India. The OTT platform confirmed that the docuseries will be available for streaming from 4th August. Other details about the cast and crew are yet to be announced.
