Pawan Kalyan’s Ustaad Bhagat Singh is not a remake of Theri

Ever since the project was announced, rumors have been rife that Pawan Kalyan’s upcoming cop action drama, Ustaad Bhagat Singh, under Harish Shankar’s direction, is an official remake of Kollywood star Vijay’s blockbuster film, Theri. The film’s team never condemning the rumors added more fuel to the fire.

Needless to say, Pawan Kalyan fans have been highly disappointed with their favorite star choosing to remake yet another Tamil movie, that too one that had a successful run in the twin Telugu states. But here’s the much-needed clarity. In a latest interview, popular director and Ustaad Bhagat Singh’s screenplay writer Dasarath clarified that UBS is not a remake of Theri.

“I know there has been a lot of miscommunication regarding UBS and Theri due to the similarities between both the movies, but UBS is not a remake of Theri. UBS will have all the elements that made us admire Pawan Kalyan. Be it his attitude, his dance, his witty demeanor – UBS is a proper fan moment movie. Director Harish Shankar has designed Pawan Kalyan’s histrionics quite well,” Dasarath revealed.

Ustaad Bhagat Singh also features young actress Sreeleela and Ashutosh Rana in lead roles. Produced under the Mythri Movie Makers banner, this high-budget entertainer has its soundtrack composed by Devi Sri Prasad.
