Poor buzz for latest weekend releases

After Nani’s Saripodhaa Sanivaaram and the two youthful entertainers, Committee Kurrollu and Aay, no other movie that released in cinemas in the past few weeks managed to bring cheers to its makers and distributors. Tamil star Vijay’s The GOAT released last week amid high expectations, but the excitement fizzled out in its opening weekend itself.

In this scenario, even this weekend doesn’t look quite promising for the Tollywood trade. Three small-budget movies, Bhale Unnade (Sep 13), Mathu Vadalara 2 (Sep 13), and Utsavam (Sep 13), along with Malayalam star Tovino Thomas’ ambitious golden jubilee film, ARM 3D (Sep 12), are scheduled to hit theaters this weekend.

Hero Raj Tarun has been delivering a string of flops of late. His upcoming movie, Bhale Unnade, is carrying a negligible buzz among movie lovers and trade circles. Surprisingly, Mathu Vadalara 2, the sequel to the super hit crime comedy, Mathu Vadalara, also seems to have not many takers as being reflected in advance bookings. The Sri Simha and Faria Abdullah-starrer may make its presence felt at the box office if it opens to positive reviews.

Utsavam, yet another small film that features Regina Cassandra and Dilip Prakash in lead roles, too, will be relying on critics’ reviews and positive word of mouth to make some noise at the ticket counters. Finally, the popularity Tovino Thomas had attained among Telugu movie lovers with Minnal Murali seems to be not enough for his 50th film, ARM 3D, as the film couldn’t register decent openings today.
