Legendary singer Vani Jayaram who was recently conferred with the Padma Bhushan award is no more. She breathed her last at her residence in Chennai. She was 78 at the time of her demise.
Born in 1945 in Vellore, Tamilnadu, she is from a family of classical musicians. Vani Jayaram started her career in 1971, which spanned over five decades. She has sung in 19 Indian languages and recorded more than 10000 songs in her film career.
Vani Jayaram has three National Awards and three Filmfare Awards to her name. She also won state government awards from Andhra Pradesh, Tamilnadu, Odisha, and Gujarat. Her notable works in Telugu include Sankarabharanam, Swathi Kiranam, Srutilayalu, and Swarnakamalam.
