Court, presented by Natural Star Nani, is hitting the big screens tomorrow. Harsh Roshan and Sridevi play the lead roles, while Priyadarshi plays the lawyer who stands up for the protagonist in this courtroom drama. In an interview with The Hindu, Priyadarshi compared Court to Nayanthara’s mystery thriller Anamika, which actually was a remake of Vidya Balan’s critically acclaimed Kahaani.

Priyadarshi said, “In Court, the hero comes from a underprivileged background. The POCSO Act applies to everyone. So, the director chose not to make caste a defining factor. In Anamika, Sekhar Kammula intentionally removed the pregnancy angle to ensure people empathized with the protagonist’s situation rather than just her condition. We attempted something similar here. We hope the audience will connect with the boy’s plight on a human level.”

Nani and team arranged a special show for media last night and the early reports are highly encouraging. Paid premieres are scheduled today for the public, and if the film can generate good talk from these shows, it can take a solid opening on Friday, utilizing the Holi holiday. Will the film receive a standing ovation, as promised by Nani? This will be known in a few hours.
