Superstar Rajinikanth’s next on-screen appearance will be in the action comedy entertainer Jailer, directed by Nelson. The film is scheduled for a grand release on August 10, 2023. The recently released first single, Kaavaalaa, is turning out to be a chartbuster. Meanwhile, the Rajini starrer landed in an issue.
Going into the details, a Malayalam film that stars Dhyan Sreenivasan in the lead role also has the same title, i.e., Jailer, and it is also scheduled for release alongside the Rajini film. The makers of the Malayalam have raised concerns about the probable confusion among the audiences with regard to the title. Hence they requested the Jailer team to change the title, at least in Kerala.
Sun Pictures, which is bankrolling Jailer, disagreed with this. Coincidentally Jailer also has the Malayalam stalwart Mohanlal in an important role. We need to see how both parties would come to an amicable solution now. Jailer also features Shiv Rajkumar, Jackie Shroff, Tamannaah, Ramya Krishna, Sunil, and Mirnaa Menon in other key roles.
