Rajkummar Rao’s Srikanth provides a sigh of relief for Bollywood

The Eid season ended up as a major disappointment for Hindi cinema with two biggies Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Maidaan failing to leave a mark at the box office. Bade Miyan Chote Miyan was a colossal failure due to underwhelming content and a massive budget. Maidaan received superb reviews, but sadly the movie didn’t achieve commercial success. While the exhibition sector suffered enormously due to these two biggies, Rajkummar Rao’s latest outing Srikanth has provided a sigh of relief for the industry.

The movie is the biopic of a businessman named Srikanth Bolla who hails from Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Srikanth is faring well at the box office and till now the movie made close to 40 crores nett in India which is a good total for a low-budget film. Urban centers are contributing to the film’s business and the box office performance is a welcome sign for the industry during this dry phase.

Trade pundits opine that Srikanth has an outside chance of crossing the 50 crore mark as well. Jyothika, Alaya F, and Sharad Kelkar played vital roles. Famous writer Tushar Hiranandani directed this biographical drama. Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, and Nidhi Parmar Hiranandani produced Srikanth.
