Currently, two horror films are ruling the roost at the Indian box office. They are Shraddha Kapoor’s Stree 2 and Arulnithi’s Demonte Colony 2. While the former is heading towards all time blockbuster in Hindi, the latter is on its way to becoming a superhit. Demonte Colony 2 is releasing in Telugu this Friday, and its pre-release event was held in Hyderabad today.
Ram Gopal Varma, the director who delivered many great horror films, graced the event as chief guest. During his speech, RGV revealed an interesting fact. Twenty years ago, RGV made a Hindi film called Bhoot with Ajay Devgn and Urmila Matondkar, which was a commercial success. RGV disclosed that the apartment in which he shot Bhoot still remains unsold because its reputation was tarnished after the film’s release. Bhoot was released as 12 Va Anthasthu in Telugu.
RGV added, “Ajay Gnanamuthu told me that the first part landed in a controversy because of its title. We need to see if people will vacate Demonte Colony in Chennai now. I am hearing extraordinary reports about the film not just in Tamil but also in Telugu. These days, small films are making it big in the industry.” Priya Bhavani Shankar played another lead role in this horror thriller.
