PAN India star Prabhas’ superhit action drama Salaar was re-released in theatres yesterday. Generally, old films will be re-released, but Salaar was too new for a repeat run. Hence, doubts were raised about its performance. However, Prabhas’ unmatched box office stamina has again come into play as Salaar collected a phenomenal Rs. 3.24 crores gross.
Another important thing to note is that the re-release happened without any special occasion. Yet Prabhas reigned supreme at the ticket windows, attracting large crowds. Many centers reported housefuls in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Yesterday, this Prashanth Neel’s directorial was the number-one film at the Indian box office, grossing higher than the recent blockbuster Court.
The re-release was limited just to South India. The numbers would have been much bigger if the film had been re-released in Hindi and international markets. The movie features Prithviraj Sukumaran, Shruti Haasan, Jagapathi Babu, Sriya Reddy, Eeshwari Rao, and Bobby Simha in key roles. Hombale Films produced this big-ticket entertainer.
