Sandhya 70mm victim’s husband to withdraw case against Allu Arjun; Cops say not possible

The unfortunate stampede that took place during Pushpa 2’s premiere at the Sandhya 70mm theater on December 4 had resulted in the tragic death of a 35-year-old woman named Revathi, while her 13-year-old son Sritej, a die-hard fan of Allu Arjun, continues to battle for his life.

The Chikkadpally Police had earlier arrested Pushpa 2 star Allu Arjun, Sandhya 70mm management, and Allu Arjun’s bouncers based on the complaint filed by Revathi’s husband Bhaskar. The actor, who spent a night in the Chanchalguda Jail, is currently out on an interim bail, and the next hearing on his regular bail is adjourned to December 30.

Recently, Allu Arjun’s father, Allu Aravind, handed over a cheque for Rs 2 crore to Revathi’s husband, Bhaskar. The grieving husband was also promised a job by the film fraternity. In this scenario, Bhaskar had told the media that he would withdraw his complaint against Allu Arjun.

However, the police say that there is no scope for withdrawing the complaint now, as the stampede had resulted in the loss of a valuable life. The cops clarified that the provision to withdraw complaints is provided only when the case involves compoundable offenses such as minor injuries or fractures, whereas the Sandhya 70mm stampede had caused the death of a woman and severely injured her son. The cops went on to say that they will fight the case legally and that a chargesheet would soon be filed against Allu Arjun and others in connection with the case.
